It’s official. 2019 wrapped up the hottest decade ever recorded, with the 5 hottest years ever being 2015-2019.
Heat waves in June and July of 2019 broke many all-time high temperature records with July being declared the hottest month ever recorded on Earth.
The 2016 Paris Agreement set a commitment to keep the global average temperature well below 2C. To meet this goal, we will need a global effort to drastically reduce carbon emissions. Taking 2019’s levels of 1.22C above pre-industrial levels into account, the world will need to cut emissions in half by 2030.
We simply can’t afford to have the next decade be warmer than the one we just finished.
